Midweek Fuel: A Quick and Easy Snack to Keep Your Energy Boosted

It's the beginning of fall sports season! Weekly practice and games are now a consistent part of your schedule and who would want it to be any other way?!

While this is all so exciting and fun, it's easy to forget one of the most important tools to keeping you energy and play at it's most elite; fuel! Often times the transition from class to practice can feel crammed and slightly hectic as you finish your last class, walk quickly to the locker room to change, and before you know it you have 5 minutes before practice officially starts. 

It's been a few hours at this point since you've had lunch, however you can't quite eat a full meal before the start of practice due to the slight time crunch. By Wednesday, you are often gearing up for a big game either that day or in the days to come. You've had some tough and intense Monday and Tuesday practices and are ready to put the preparation on the field but NEED the proper energy to push you through it. That's why we've provided a recipe to make for your mid-week pick-me-up! Requiring little ingredients and no baking needed, this quick, healthy and easy snack is a perfect pick-me-up without being overly full! Making a batch for the week and bringing some bites to eat pre or post workout may be just what your body needs! 

Chocolate Chip Protein Ball Recipe: 

1 scoop protein powder- we love using FEM Power Protein Powder, a clean, plant-based powder specifically for female athletes

1/4 cup natural peanut butter

1/3 cup organice maple syrup

1/2 cup + 2 tbsp almond flour

2 tbsp coconut flour

mini chocolate chips

a pinch of sea salt

How To:

Mix peanut butter and maple syrup together in a bowl. In a separate bowl, mix almond flour, coconut flour and protein powder. Combine dry and wet ingredients together, stir until mixture creates a thick texture. Once thick, add in chocolate chips, begin rolling into golf ball sized balls *if bites are note forming easily, place in refrigerator for a small amount of time to let dough hard*. Once bites are formed and placed on a flat baking sheet, sprinkle some sea salt on top & enjoy! If you're able to hold back from eating all the bites at once, place remaining amount in refrigerator to keep fresh.
