Halloween, a night filled with cute, scary and fun costumes, but also all the candy you can think of, of course!
While Halloween is the perfect excuse to lightly indulge in some of your favorite chocolate, it also occurs during some of your most important competitions and practices- you are at the start of your winter sport season, or just getting into playoffs for your current fall season. Balance is an important factor for athletes, so make sure you grab your favorites out of the bowl! However, in order to prevent a sugar crash or causing an stomachaches, figuring out a solution to "healthify" some of your childhood classic treats may also benefit you and help avoid any uneasiness, while providing you a good alternative to hitting that sweet tooth craving!
For the base layer:
3/4 cup peanut butter
3/4 cup almond flour
1.5 tbsp maple syrup
1 scoop protein powder- we love using FEM Power Protein Powder!
For the chocolate layer:
1/3 cup dairy free chocolate chips
1/2 tbsp coconut oil
Begin by making the base layer. Add all ingredient together, first wet, then add in dry. Once thoroughly mixed and combined, gently create small ball-like shapes. Once formed, place on baking sheet and lightly press down to flatted out slightly. When all cookies are lightly pressed down, place in freezer to set. Once cookies set, make chocolate coating. Take cookies out of freezer, and coat each cookie with chocolate. Sprinkle sea salt on top and place back in freezer until chocolate hardens. When ready to eat, lightly peel cups off the pan, and enjoy this healthy Halloween treat! *Store in freezer in container or on pan when not consuming*
